Relationship lessons/After you read/Lesson 15

One sentence you can check

The reading is finished when it produces a sentence with a time, a fact, and a next step. Not a second reading.

Every lesson in this set is trying to land on the same small craft. Name the time, name what was said or done, name the next thing you want, and make that next thing something either of you could tell had happened. “Be closer” cannot be checked. “Thursday, twenty minutes, no one else” can.

If you have already said something too large, take that sentence back before you add a request. “I said you do not care, and that went too far. I still want a time for the thing I asked.” The retraction without a “but you also” is what lets the request be heard. The chart’s talk score will not perform this for you.

Then leave the wheel alone for the length of the experiment. Another birthday, another label, another pass through the same pair will feel like progress and is usually delay. The signs will still be the signs next week. The sentence is the part that can move.

Try this

  1. Write one line in the form: on this day, this happened, next time I want this.
  2. Send it, or keep it, but do not stack a second event on top.
  3. Do not open the result again until that next time has either happened or failed.

Easy to miss: Running the charts again instead of letting one sentence stand.
