Relationship lessons/The bond you said you are in/Lesson 9
When it is not named yet
An unnamed bond lowers ease of talk, because every step closer has to be explained again.
“Not named yet” is the label for the almost-relationship: enough contact to feel a pull, no agreement about what the pull is. The site lowers the talk score for this label. The missing name makes ordinary sentences heavier. A Thursday plan sounds like a confession. A slow reply sounds like a verdict.
The fee is usually three things. You wait for certainty before you speak. You want them to go first so a refusal is their fault. You want to be chosen, not merely answered. None of those is an element. All three will outlast any sun sign until somebody makes a request that can be refused.
The third layer, for this label, points at a meeting with an ending time and one question about what they currently call this. That is a smaller ticket than “do you like me.” Smaller is the point. A ticket they can decline gives you information. A hint gives you another week of shift work.
Try this
- Write the invitation as a day, a length, and one activity. No speech about the future.
- Decide the date by which you will send it. One delay cancels the exercise.
- If you already know you will not send it, write that down too. Waiting without a date is not caution.
Easy to miss: Refreshing their silence and calling the refresh a reading.
